About this project
The web series Samen.PL was my debut as a cinematographer. Over the course of 2.5 years, we produced a total of 16 episodes. Due to the lack of a real budget, I took on many tasks—not only as the director of photography and gaffer, but also handling the entire post-production process, including editing and color grading the whole series.
In Dutch, “samen” means “together, jointly.” The series project SAMEN.PL has been carried out since 2021 by a group of enthusiasts. The originator, screenwriter, and director of subsequent episodes is Monika Stępień. The series portrays the adventures of Polish immigrants abroad—cultural clashes, linguistic and social faux pas, beautiful disasters, and surprising discoveries at the intersection of different mentalities and traditions. The idea behind it can be summed up simply: “Let’s learn to laugh at ourselves. Together.
